A-May-Zing Effort Notches 4 Points

The St. Stephen Aces gained 4 points the past 2 games with a road win on Sunday in Edmunston with a 2-1 victory over the defending league champions.

Ethan Stuckless opened the scoring at 17:06 of the 2nd assisted by Hicks and Holstein as both tenders were on top of their games. The Blizzard finally got on the board at 7:49 of the 3rd before Liam Smith (Zimmerman, White) banged in a loose puck to put the Aces back up 2-1 at 11:09 and the Aces held on for the big road win.

Joey May was named 1st star of the game stopping 32 of 33 shots. Liam Smith was named 2nd star of the game.

On Thursday night the Aces returned to home ice to welcome the Miramichi Timberwolves. The Aces started off slow as they were outshot 19-10 in the 1st period, however, Joey May kept the Aces in the game with several big saves to keep the game scoreless after 1.  At 6:24 Zach Alchorn notched a shorthanded goal to give the Aces a 1-0 lead. Noah Holm and Jack Morris picked up the assists and the 2nd period ended with the Aces up 1-0.

The Timberwolves scored at 7:55 of the 3rd to deadlock the game at 1 a piece and with both teams garnering many chances the 3rd ended tied 1-1.

At 3:12 of overtime Everett Hicks scored on a breakaway to give the hometown Aces a 2-1 victory. Hicks was named 1st star of the game while Joey May was named 2nd.

Action continues with the Aces at home versus the Grand Falls Rapids on September 29th with a 7:00 p.m. puck drop at the GCC.
